ISOLA and IGBC reach MOU agreement

""

The Indian Society of Landscape Architects (ISOLA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) at its biennial National Conference in February, 2019 at Kochi, Kerala. The office bearers of both organizations met last month at the 2019 IGBC Green Building Conference to kick start the collaboration. ISOLA supported the Green Landscapes and Biodiversity seminar held at the Conference.

Through the MoU, both agreed to work towards the updating of the landscape rating systems, and for all other ratings focus not only for the buildings but the setting of buildings as well. The setting might extend beyond the building site especially in eco sensitive zones. This would in turn provide direction to the resilience of such ecosystems. That is, the efficiency and performance of the landscape would be the focus. IGBC’s association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has extended their reach to the public through educational institutions and government. ISOLA and IGBC together will conduct workshops where ‘in situ’ projects in different built environments and typologies will bring home the fact that there is no template where man-environment interactions are concerned. However, methodology to assess, will vigorously be emphasised. These workshops would commence in the next year. These workshops would also extend to training in implementation and maintenance of built landscapes.
